Another mistake I made was not checking the flight schedule. We flew from Albuquerque to Houston to Cancun. The big mistake was thinking it wouldn’t be busy if we traveled before the Christmas-New Year week. I haven’t traveled around the Christmas holiday in years.
Having been to the Riviera Maya on México’s Yucatan coast, we thought it would be a relatively easy trip. This report may have been wordy, but it deserves to be read and heeded.I finally got up the courage (with Covid still causing problems) to fly out of the country for a vacation just before Christmas. Most dining guests do not care who or where their servers are from or their ethnicity, they just want great service and great food. The service industry is very difficult, especially when the customer's expectations are not met or exceeded. I would hope that their owners would read these comments and make some radical improvements to their way of conducting business. We got great service in the old location, but by moving, that whole scenario has changed. I rarely write a review about anything that is not extremely positive and complimentary, but this experience was not as pleasant as it should have been. Also, with the vast majority of patrons that speak and use the English language, it was somewhat difficult to communicate with the waiters, hostesses, etc. With all of the openings for restaurant workers, there should not be a need to be short of wait help. I do not think that I am biased by my observation, but when they tend to only hire Mexican-decent employees to be servers, that limits the available staff greatly. With the added room, they simply did not increase the staff and that was very apparent with this latest visit. We ate at the restaurant when it was still on East 116th Street in downtown Fishers, but they were forced to move into the abandoned Cheeseburger In Paradise building recently. This device also asks you to determine what tip you would like to leave and the least amount was 15%.

Finally, we asked the hostess who to pay and she came back to our table with a portable machine. When we sought our check to pay, we also waited for the waiter to return. Once we finally got our food, it was well longer than 1-1/2 hours after entering. We discovered that there must have been only six to seven waiters available to wait on about 200 guests and that was why we were not served quickly. We had four grandchildren and they do not like to wait for drinks or food, so we ran all over the restaurant to fetch someone to take our orders. They finally seated us, but there were no servers available. Their tables only accommodate about eight adults and that lead to the longer than usual delay. We visited this Mexican restaurant on a busy Saturday evening and had to wait for a table for 10. Positives, nice big place ambiance is cool, but that’s it, the food is so plain it makes grocery store Ortega seem gourmet, problem with those who review and say it’s great, have never had real good Mexican food or dishes,, example son ordered a cheese and ground beef quesadilla, we had to send it back as all it was, a sprinkle of shredded cheese (sent back as where was the cheese?) a giant scoop of meat, then folded over and microwaved !!! Lol kid you not, they came back out with a new/same one, a pinch of more shredded bagged cheese and re-microwaved, good lord lol, just people please the food is as good as a Swanson Mexican frozen meal, at ridiculously high end prices More and get as good and in some cases better tasting and more flavorful food than this place. Point is, read and pay attention to everyone who says it’s mediocre, as it is, just plain, blah food, and it’s expensive, trust me and all who say, just mediocre and for the most part flavorless, skip it, you seriously can go to Taco Bell.
